Some countries in the world are still patriarchal in nature. This is evident with the number of influential male figures in the society, across politics, business, and other fields. Although there are efforts to promote gender equality, they are still lagging behind.
The good thing though is that women are fighting back and are taking control of their fate. Despite being behind in various studies regarding gender equality, women from some African and Middle Eastern countries are now doing better. Saudi Arabia for instance has allowed some women to vote last year, or hold a government position.
It is completely amazing and admirable when women from these parts of the world are able to break free from the stereotypes and accomplish something on their own. Businesses and companies owned by women in Africa and the Middle East had to go through so much more to be successful than their counterparts in other areas of the world. For women to rise into positions of power, they would have had to endure tremendous persecution and opposition.
The good news is that it has happened and the success of women is being replicated in different communities there. Women are slowly being allowed to get an education, to start their own businesses and rally their staff to achieving goals and quotas.
We’ve created a detailed infographic showing incredible facts on women owned businesses. It’s meant to inspire other women who have yet to break free from patriarchal rule and make them believe that it is possible to achieve dreams and become successful.
